Catchup Caturday

Look at all these toys!  My Christmas package from my woofy cousins arrived and it was huge.
Mom got them all out for me and I just felt overwhelmed.  I did play with a couple of them a little bit and I have been playing with more of them.  Mom laughed because now not all my toys will fit in my toy bucket.  I guess I just have to have more toys out.  Mom hasn't been much fun lately.

Karen Jo:  Sorry, Herman.  I get depressed from time to time and I just can't seem to make myself do much until it passes, which is only a couple of days, usually.  I am fine again now.

Mom finally cooked the lamb last night.  It was delicious.  I ate more bites than usual.

Karen Jo:  But when I offered you some more today, you weren't interested.

Maybe I just don't like leftovers.

Karen Jo:  Could be.  You gave me a real treat last night.

Mom was watching TV while waiting for dinner to finish cooking and I was in the computer chair next to her.  I put my forepaws on her thigh, then lifted one of my back legs, then put it back down, looked at her and meowed.

Karen Jo:  It looked to me like you wanted in my lap, but you weren't sure that you could step across.  I lifted you up and put you in my lap and you actually stayed.  You got comfy and I was petting you, then the timer for dinner went off in just a very few minutes and I had to get up.  It was the very first time that you had sat in my lap.  I was sad that it ended so soon.  Maybe you will do it again.

Maybe.  You never know what I will do.

Karen Jo:  I certainly don't.  I have just been bragging about how good you were about taking your Centrine and today I found three doses on the floor in various places in the living room.  You must be holding in your mouth until after I have checked around you to see it you spit it out, then spitting it out.  It doesn't seem to have hurt anything, as your poop is still firm.

I don't really like taking pills of any kind and I will get rid of them if I possibly can.  At least I am done with my really nasty pill for this month.

Herman, you need to get a bigger toy box! Those are more toys than any kitty would know what to do with!

You got a LOT of toys Herman! and keep it up with the pills - glad at least you are done with the nasty ones.... Bugsy takes them 2x a day everyday (metro), and will take it for a while... He took Centrine for a few days too, but not anymore... But you do take them Herman, do not spit it off! You don't want to be like Bugsy with the runs for 3 months!

Herman & Karen Jo,
I really like your dialog and enjoy reading it.

Toys can be overwhelming, can't they? You don't know what to play with first and then you realize it's the human that makes the best amusement!

Have a good weekend!

Herman, darling. So glad to meet you. Thank you for coming to see me.

I have to take medicine every day too but mine is methemazole for my hyperthyroidism.

Let's us both try to be good about our meds even though they are such a pain in the neck. Taking them makes us feel better and our mom's don't worry as much.

Your woofie cousins were very good to you!

Mom says she understands completely about the lamb. It is at its best when first cooked :-)

Guess Mom will have to get you a bigger toy box, Herman. Nice of you to sit on Mom's lap. We hope you gave her a few kisses to cheer her up. And what's this about not taking your meds - silly kitty - we want you to be well, now stop that nonsense.

What great presents from your woofie cousins! And we think the present you gave your mom (sitting in her lap) is PAWSOME. She seems to have really enjoyed it, so maybe you should do some more of that. :)

Herman, that was very kind of you to sit in your Mom's lap! We know how much she loved it!

P.S. Karen Jo, have you tried using a "pill popper" to administer pills? It is plastic and looks like a pencil with a rubber grabber at one end (to hold the pill) and a syringe at the other end (to release the pill). After years of trying to pill cats the hard way, a receptionist at the vet asked if I wanted a pill popper. I had never heard of it before that. So much easier! Not perfect, but much better.

Karen Jo, you must have been so excited when Herman sat in your lap!! Fuzzy sat in mine a while back for the first time in 15 years. I felt so honored! And that is a little funny how he's been stashing his pills! Only a little funny because he didn't seem to be getting ill without them. He's sneaky!
