Chasing Sun Puddles

With the birdies not coming around and my toys being boring, there's not much else to do around here but chase sun puddles.  I had found a great one up on the big pillow on the table, but Mom wasn't fast enough with the camera to catch me in it.  When the puddle moved to the carpet, I followed it.

Karen Jo:  I don't know why you think your toys are all boring.  I try to play with you and you ignore me, mostly.  We did bat a ball around a little bit last night.

I have seen them all before and played with them all before.  I did play with the mousie hanging from the kitchen door a little bit last night.

Karen Jo:  I think you are just being lazy and would rather nap in a sun puddle than play.

Sun puddles are great in the winter.  They aren't around every day, so I have to take advantage of the ones I can find.  When are you going to cook something good again?

Karen Jo:  Soon.  I have all the ingredients for a meat loaf, but I don't feel like cooking it tonight.

Meat loaf is good, except that you put onions in it.

Karen Jo:  I will break you off some little pieces that don't have onion in them.

I think you ought to cook one for me with no onions.

Karen Jo:  That's an idea.  I could make you a little one before I put the onions in.

Now you're talking.

Oooh, your very own meatloaf, Herman? That sounds like just the ticket!

We don't have as much energy during the winter, either. Sun puddle chasing is one of our favorite things to do, too.

Big hugs to both of you.

Herman, you are so lucky that your mama will make you your own little meatloaf. We hope you like it. Mom hasn't been doing much cooking for us, but she does let us have some of her homemade bread with butter on it - which is nommy.

This sounds like OUR house! The Girl doesn't like onions either! (Though we know they are bad for kitties.)

1. TBT uses lots of spices in his meats, so we dont like it much. But he (usally) cuts off some before he spices it just fer us.

2. We agree he same toys evry day CAN get boring, Herman. So TBT has 4 bowls up where we cant get at them. The differnt bowls are for rattley mice, squeeky mice, balls, and "other" (fuzzies, milk rings, twisty wires, etc). An he uses a differnt bowl each day or two.

Of course, he doesn't find ALL of each type each day ta put away, so a rattley mouse might suddenly be found unner a chair on a "fuzzy" day, but it does change things around. An iffen he finds a foam ball in the basement on a squeeky mouse day, he will toss it down the hall ta surprise us!

It's the slippery slope! Within a week Herman will have you eating food he likes instead of food you want. :-)

Hey Herman,
Runt here in early morning Illinois...no sun puddles yet this morning! but I just wanted to say hi, since it's been a while since mommy checked in with you. I think the idea of your own little meatloaf is a stroke of genius and will see what I can do to get my mommy to do something like that for me.
Charles doesn't need it as he is a blob and waddles when he walks...And as for the Princess, she is content with her "special" food, so that just leaves me and I'm willing to try anything.
So, happy sun puddle chasing to you and give your mum a snuggle for us.

One of our favorite toys is a trackball thingy with a scratch pad in the middle of it. Have you tried that?

Wow - your very own meatloaf!!!

We like sun puddles too. In the winter they are harder to come by.

mmmm your own meatloaf? I'm coming to your house Herman! I'm glad to see you're doing well and finding sunpuddles. I had some this weekend too and I chased them. Sometimes toys are boring. Sometimes I just feel like chilling out on the sofa on a cold day.
Enjoy the sunbeams as much as you can, even if it means passing on the play time. purrrrrrrrs

You mean you have sun puddles??? I'm going to have to transport over and enjoy one. It has been stormy, and cloudy here for quite awhile. Don't mind the rain as we need it. I want to thank you very much for stopping over and wishing me well when I was sick. Thank you for your purrs and prayers too. It was very much appreciated. Herman hope you get your meat loaf without the onions.
